Description: Oceanlord's Peter Willmott constructed a home studio during the stark 263 days of pandemic lockdown in Melbourne, and in 2022, the band recorded their debut release. Kingdom Cold came out to be a massive album which displays the band's aim to push the boundaries of doom music. The impressive first single, 2340, comes with a spooky video, and lays out a rather foreboding atmosphere as a whole. According to Willmott: “The song 2340 is our dirge of treachery named for the hour the Titanic hit the iceberg, written to capture the sense of unreal calm that comes before despair and darkness consumes all. We follow a captain in the throes of occult ecstasy who sinks his ship and abandons its passengers to the depths.” With a compelling narrative, this is exciting stoner rock and doom metal which amply exhibits excellent musicianship.
