Description: Composed of four lengthy compositions and two interludes, House of Falling Ash, the most recent album by Roseville, California sludge/post metal band, Chrome Ghost, brought the weightiness, the lyricism and the depression in equal measures. The album's parallels to progressive rock are unavoidable, still, the receiver of such heftiness gets invested quite deeply into the melancholy to a point where labels and adjectives become of secondary importance. Undoubtedly, this is a complicated album, but in the end, it convinces.
